O volante Luís Oyama e o meia Palacios não podem atuar na partida de segunda-feira, válida pela 25ª rodada do Brasileirão. Os dois jogadores não atuam como titulares na equipe de Armando Evangelista, mas são peças chaves nos confrontos, inclusive das últimas rodadas.
Luís Oyama não poderá jogar contra o Botafogo pois pertence ao clube carioca e por razões contratuais, não pode ser utilizado. Palacios, que estava pendurado, recebeu o terceiro cartão amarelo na partida contra o Flamengo, que terminou em empate. Por isso, o meia cumpre suspensão.
Mas nem só de desfalques vive o Verdão. Por outro lado, a equipe tem a volta do lateral-esquerdo Sander e o volante Dieguinho aos treinos e podem estar à disposição do treinador Armando Evangelista na partida contra o Botafogo. Além disso, João Magno e William Oliveira voltam ao time titular, após indisposição antes da partida contra o Flamengo. Raphael Guzzo também retorna à equipe, após cumprir suspensão.
Sander teve lesão muscular na coxa constada no início de agosto, na partida contra o Grêmio e até então estava sem previsão de retorno. Dieguinho não entra em campo desde o final de maio e na mesma época, revelou que foi diagnosticado com um edema ósseo na coluna.

Por fim, o Esmeraldino volta a campo no dia 2 de outubro, quando enfrenta o Botafogo, no Estádio Nilton Santos. O time carioca está em 1º lugar na tabela do Brasileirão, com 52 pontos, se mantendo na liderança. Enquanto isso, o Goiás ocupa a 16ª colocação, com 26 pontos.
